Volunteer in Galapagos Islands
Discover the Galapagos Islands in its purest, primitive state. The Islands were the reason why the young English naturist Charles Darwin had to visit in 1835, for his famous book “The origin of Species”….
The Galapagos Islands are situated 605 miles from the Ecuadorian Coast. The mysterious and fascinating archipelago consists of 13 major Islands, 6 smaller ones, and more than 40 islets. The entire archipelago has a total of 3,040 sq. miles of land mass spread over 17,000 sq. miles. The Islands possess a combination of elements (marine current and Equatorial Line) necessary to create a wonderful fauna, flora and geological landforms. UNESCO declared the Galapagos Islands a World Heritage Site. Cross the world and volunteer in South America discovering Ecuador and its beautiful Islands. Our projects are based in San Cristobal Island, the capital of Galapagos with 5,400 inhabitants.
Enjoy Galapagos as a volunteer in San Cristobal Island. We offer you two different volunteer programs where you can invest your time and talents.

REFORESTATION AND ORGANIC FARMING IN GALAPAGOS
This project is located on a farm owned by two local brothers who want to conserve their land. There is no typical day. Volunteers work in several sites on the farm depending on the project needs. One project focuses especially on eradicating the blackberry plants that were introduced to this area. Participants use machetes and other tools to pull up the roots of the blackberry plants. You seed native plants in different parts of the land, feed tortoises that have made their homes in one part of the farm that is a 3km walking distance away. The farm has adopted healthy environmental practices to positively impact the ecosystem. Volunteers sow organic fruits and vegetables; do composting, clean weeding, prepare soil and perform various faming activities. The nursery of the National Park permits volunteers to help with collecting seeds, placing seeds in bags to be transplanted or to be sent to different farms. Besides, you can help the community to improve roads, cultivate native and endemic species at the other farmer’s land. Participants stay in a volunteer’s house on the farm at 10km from the Port and share a room with 4 to 6 other people.
TEACHING ENGLISH IN GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
Education and training programs in Galapagos do not respond to the need for residents to have vocational skills; there are few teachers who speak English. This program´s mission is to improve the children’s level of English so that in the future they will be able to communicate with tourists or work in the tourism industry.
Take part of our teaching English in Galapagos Islands project. The project is in a local school on San Cristobal Island. Volunteers assist the Ecuadorian teacher in different activities by teaching English, art, sports, preparing lessons, singing songs, finding new materials to teach and practicing conversational English, as well as assisting children in their daily activities such as drawing and painting. The ages of the students range from 4 to 18 years.
