Volunteer In Quito Ecuador

Quito, the capital of Ecuador and the second highest capital city in the world at 2,850 meters (9359 feet), was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This beautiful city offers an astonishing old town, excellent viewpoints to see the city and amazing volcanoes that surround it- namely, the Pichincha Volcano, and ideal places to enjoy outdoor activities.

The weather is surprisingly spring-like all the year round because of its closeness to the equator. The temperature is around 19°C during the day and dips down at night. Volunteer In Quito Ecuador

Immerse yourself in our volunteer programs in Quito, live in a beautiful city, with the opportunity to experience a new culture, food and a way of life.  We match your skills and interests to project needs to provide you with a genuine volunteer experience.

Volunteers of different ages are welcome to be involved in projects in Quito. Your effort and time to make a real difference are appreciated.

Our Quito volunteer opportunities take place on the outskirts of the city, in a nicer and safer neighborhood, the Chillos Valley. Volunteers help children at different stages of development in day care centers, orphanages and local schools by teaching English and working in a school for children with special needs.

The following programs offer you an excellent opportunity to learn Spanish while volunteering with children. Contact us to arrange Spanish lessons (basic, intermediate and advance level) from one week, or for a few hours or intensive courses – 4 or more hours per day.

The volunteer at child care in Quito program is at a center that offers services for children of single moms and low-income families. These children need supervision in their daily activities as they do not have a place to stay while their mothers are at work. The role of the volunteers is to assistant the teachers in different classrooms for children ranging from 1 to 4 years by helping them draw and paint, feeding them, playing with them, watching the children, cleaning the child care center and working in the kitchen to prepare nutritious meals.

Helping children is one of the most fulfilling work. You will be supporting disadvantaged children that are happy with just a hug. Take part in this program and have fun with the children and staff.

For over a century, the schools offered English classes for one or two hours per week. Now, students in the final year of school receive more than two hours of English language instruction per week. However, English teachers are inexperienced and the schools do not have a strategy to teach English. Therefore, we need volunteers who help the English teacher. The volunteer work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm. In the morning you teach English to grades 1 to 7 on your own, since these grades have no English teacher. You follow a syllabus provided by the director. The main purpose for these classes is to increase the students’ vocabulary, to teach them greetings and a few basic sentences. In the afternoon, you assist the English teacher for grades 8 to 10. The classes foster cultural exchange between students and volunteers; where students share their Ecuadorian culture, as well as have the opportunity to learn about similarities and differences with your cultural practices.

Our volunteer with special needs children program takes place in a small school that provides care during the day to children, teenagers and adults from 5 to 22 years old who have no financial means of support and whose families are unable to provide adequate care.

The school provides rehabilitation in different areas as physical, speech, occupational and physiotherapy, training in daily living skills, recreational activities and basic arts. Volunteers assist the therapist in their daily work as well as assist at mealtimes. Volunteers work from 8am to 4pm – Monday through Friday.

Help at a public hospital in the general medicine area. This is a great opportunity for students interested in the field to gain valuable insight into the unique medical care provided by local professionals in Ecuador.

Volunteers assist with basic tasks and shadow doctors in a hospital, clinic or private office. You work from 8am to 4pm for 5 days per week. The schedule is flexible and can vary depending on the needs of the placement.
